ABDOMINOPLASTY

abdominoplastia.jpg

Living with an accelerated pace, bad eating habits, pregnancy, and sedentary life style can cause a flaccid abdomen full of fat deposits. An abdominoplasty is an aesthetic surgery technique performed by Dr. Rodriguez-Balasquide that helps to shape and redefine the body's silhouette. It is not a weight-loss treatment, but a way to eliminate the abdominal fat hat doesn't go away with dieting or exercise. It also corrects the areas of skin that are stretched beyond natural repair. Also, the abdominoplasty can strengthen the abdominal muscles after a pregnancy.

Generally, an horizontal incision is performed just above the pubic area. The length of this incision, extending laterally to the sides of the pelvis, depends on the amount of skin to be removed. The shape of the incision can change according to the abdomen structure, and also the style of underwear and/or bathing suit the patient prefers. Dr. Rodriguez-Balasquide does everything in his power to make the incision below the swimming suit line, but this is not always possible.

It is important for the patient to understand that the recuperation period varies greatly depending on the individual. Depending on the extent of the surgery and the patient's physical condition, patients are able to go back to work in about 1 to 3 weeks after the procedure. In most cases normal daily activities, including light exercise, can be resumed after a few weeks.
